Daniel Campbell Blight
Biography
Daniel Campbell Blight was the gallery’s founding Director. He programmed exhibitions from 2009 – 2011. He most recently curated the exhibition ‘On the Ephemeral in Photography’, a collaboration between Hotshoe and Brad Feuerhelm of Ordinary-Light Photography. He also curated Noemie Goudal’s solo show Les Amants, and in 2010, the Edgar Martins solo show A Metaphysical Survey of British Dwellings and Dwarf Exoplanets and a group show featuring artists Rut Blees Luxemburg, Karen Knorr, Melanie Manchot, Anna Linderstam and Clare Strand. He designed and built the gallery with artist and curator Marcin Dudek in the summer of 2009 and launched the space the following October with an exhibition to accompany the publication of Jim Naughten’s monograph Re-enactors, published by HotShoe Books. He has previously curated exhibitions of photography, painting, illustration and artist’s film and video. He is a regular contributor to HotShoe Magazine and has written features on the photography of Sohei Nishino, Karen Knorr, David Birkin, Noemie Goudal and Rut Blees Luxemburg, amongst others. Daniel Campbell Blight is also active as an academic and has given workshops, lectures and dissertation supervision to students at the University of Brighton, London College of Communication, University of the Creative Arts at Rochester and at international schools such as the University of Copenhagen and the Estonian Art Academy, Tallinn.
